Real Madrid captain Raul has turned down a lucrative approach from Premier League side Manchester City and says he wants to finish his career at Real.
“Manchester City have made contact through my agent Gines Carvajal. But I’ve not really considered it because I would be mad to leave here,” Raul told sports daily Marca on Saturday.
“I’m only interested in finishing my career with Real.”
It was rumoured earlier in the week that City were willing to pay £35 million for the forward despite the fact that he turns 32 this summer.
Raul is Madrid’s all-time leading goalscorer with 316 goals to his name and he has also scored more times (64) in the Champions League than any other player.
This season cash-rich City paid £32.5 million for Raul’s former team-mate at the Bernabeu Robinho but failed with a world record bid for Milan’s Kaka in the January transfer window.
